With the voice of an angel, Kaline’s “Bring Them Home” reminds us that 276 girls were savagely abducted from their school in Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria. Yesterday, January 15th, marked 276 days that the girls have been missing. The exact amount that were originally kidnapped from their hostiles. According to media reports, 57 escaped but 219 remain in captivity. As the march to Nigeria’s February elections continues unabated, we hope that their safe retrieval will become an important issue focused on by the candidates. We look forward to a day where every girl child in Nigeria and around the world will have equal access to education without fear. There are still rallies to bring awareness to the taken girls, daily in Abuja and weekly in Ibadan, Lagos, and Osogbo. The world may have forgotten, but we never will.
We cannot afford to give up now. Let’s #BringBackOurGirls.
