The following list is of competitions and prizes for poetry and fiction writers around the world, for individual work as well as for completed manuscripts. This is not in any way definitive of the open prize and competitions for this season, but they are some of the biggest, with prizes ranging from $500 to $2000 for a single winner. There are also calls for submission for anthologies.
Many of them are paid competitions, but this is a first list. We will update them as we come across new ones, particularly those that can be entered without any entry fees. Their deadlines are written in brackets.
