The Sun Pours Libation

By Geosi Gyasi

Geosi Gyasi Photoat the burial grounds

man confronts the earth

and a chthonic power

vociferate to the world

under;

a convocation of elders

pick themselves up

long hours of sun burning

to pour libation as the ultimate rite

before the dead is lowered

into the belly of the earth.

in respect to the forefathers

whose cadaverous remains

remain begrime

of yesteryears

salivated with a bottle of schnapps

to assuage the thirst of the spirits.

they pour thrice

little drops of measured time.

eerie incantations

splattered over

the dead.

in a trice;

the earth jiggles querulously

whilst the sun’s choler soars outrageously

pours onto earth

in excess of a certain torridness

which dries out the tears

of the earth.
